Monthly Hydrological Bulletin: September, 2021

The water level of the river began to drop during the month of September, following the end of the rainy season. Both the interior delta and the middle Niger experienced an increase in water levels due to upstream inflows and tributaries from the right bank of Burkina Faso.

The filling of the Sélingué dam in Mali and Kainji dam in Nigeria have started respectively during the second and third dekad of July. The two dams are both almost at maximum fill levels.
