Monthly hydrological Buletin. Novembre 2017

NBA/Hydrological monitoring
Thursday 28 December 2017 by administrateur, Alio Abdoulaye

The hydrological situation in the Niger basin during the month of November 2017 was characterized by the low flow in the Upper Niger Basin, Inner Delta and Lower Niger Basin and a continuous rise of flow in the Middle Niger Basin. This increase in flow in the Middle Niger Basin is due as result of the incoming flow from the Upper Basin known as “Guinean flood or black flood”.

The Selingue Dam in Mali and Kainji Dam in Nigeria have reached their maximum filling level and have started release so as to support low flow downstream.

The flow analysis situation was carried out on the four sub-catchments basin using the data recorded from the reference gauging stations which are: Upper Niger at Koulikoro (Mali), Inland Delta at Dire (Mali), Middle Niger in Niamey (Niger) and Lower Niger at Lokoja (Nigeria) as shown in figure 1.
