INTRODUCTION

The hydrological situation in the Niger basin during the month of Mai was characterized by the beginning of an increase in flow as a result of progressive installation of rainy season. It was also as a result of release from existing dams to the downstream stations.

The reservoir water releases from Selingue Dam in Mali as well as Kainji and Jebba Dams in Nigeria is ongoing. The flow analysis situation was carried out on the four sub-catchments basin using the data recorded from the reference gauging stations which are: Upper Niger at Koulikoro (Mali), Inland Delta at Dire (Mali), Middle Niger in Niamey (Niger) and Lower Niger at Lokoja (Nigeria) as shown in figure 1.
