STATUS OF LOCAL FLOOD IN MIDDLE NIGER AS AT 2 AUGUST 2016

The local flood in Middle Niger began in June 2016. Since then, there has been heavy rainfall in the Middle Niger, especially in the Sirba and Gorouol sub-basins on the right bank.
In a week, from 25 July to 1 August 2016, a rise of 1.90 m was recorded in the Sirba station in Garbé Kourou.

In two weeks, from 16 to 30 July 2016, a rise of 2.90 m was recorded at the Gorouol station in Alcongui with a daily maximum water level of 406 cm on 30 July 2016. This maximum of 406 cm had never been recorded since the establishment of the station in 1957.

The rising waters continue to the Garbé Kourou station on the Sirba while a relative decrease began at the Alcongui station on Gorouol.
