Monthly hydrological buletin September 2014
INTRODUCTION
The hydrological flow situation in the Niger basin during the month of September was characterized by continued increase of flows in most sub-basins.
The flow analysis situation was carried out by dividing the basin into the four sub-catchments also represented with reference gauging stations as follows: The Upper Niger at Koulikoro (Mali), the Inner Delta at Dire (Mali), The Middle Niger in Niamey (Niger), The Lower Niger at Lokoja (Nigeria) as shown in figure 1.
Figures 2 to 5 and Table 1 show respectively, the comparative hydrographs for the hydrological years 2011/2012, 2012/2013, 2013/2014, 2014/2015 as well as the five-year return period wet and dry and the mean at the reference stations.
While figures 6 and 7 show the evolution of reservoir water level at Kainji Dam in Nigeria and Selingué Dam in Mali.
