1.0 SUMMARY OF HYDROLOGICAL SITUATION

The flow of river Niger is still decreasing in the entire part of the basin in March 2014 as a result of the dry season. The monthly average flow recorded at the 4 reference stations of the Niger basin are : 165m3/s at Koulikoro in the Upper Niger, 216 m³/s at Diré in the Inland Delta,418m3/s at Niamey in the Middle Niger and 2534 m³/s at Lokoja in the Lower Niger. The total volume recorded from June, 2013 to March, 2014 at these stations are estimated as 33.16 km3 at Koulikoro, 25.65 km3 at Diré, 26.47 km3 in Niamey and 169 km3 at Lokoja.

The releases from Selingue dam has continue to support the low flow to the downstream while the Kainji dam the reservoir storage has attained its maximum capacity level and now decreasing.
