Stakeholders and FMAWR Meeting

REPORT OF THE MEETING BETWEEN THE NIGER BASIN AUTHORITY (NBA) DELEGATION, THE STAKEHOLDERS AND THE FMAWR ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NIGER-HYCOS PROJECT IN NIGERIA HELD AT THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF WATER RESOURCES, ABUJA
12-16 MARCH, 2007.

Introduction

The meeting was opened with a prayer by Mr J.O. Adeniyi, Deputy Director, Planning, Research and statistics, FMAW at 12 pm with the Director, Planning, Research and statistics, Mr M. F. Ajayi, who is also the NBA Focal Point for Nigeria, presiding as the Chairman.

The chairman, in his opening remarks, informed the stakeholders that the NBA delegation was in Nigeria to discuss, identify and examine the current and future problems facing the smooth take-off of the Niger-HYCOS project having noticed lapses in its implementation.

He however, regretted about the poor turn out of the stakeholders for the meeting. This he said would affect the purpose for which the meeting was convened.

In-spite of the low turnout as rightly observed, the stakeholders were able to reach a concensus that the meeting be continued while the other stakeholders joined in the course of the meeting since the major stakeholders were in the meeting. The list of attendants is attached as annex.
